Remembering March 31, 2008

Today marks the anniversary of my childhood home going up in flames. I don't write this blog in hopes of drumming up horrible memories from this day..but from the many memories we've made and how far we've come as a family since this day. My parents bought this home when I was in 4th grade. I had many many wonderful memories in this home. For it to be taken in an instant is still hard to think about. All of the belongings that my parents worked so hard for gone in an moment. The thing I pray thanks over most about this tragedy is that my Dad's life was spared. He only had time to grab his wallet, Kirby (their dog) and Buttons (our cat). That's Dad for ya! Always has to save the animals..especially because they too are members of our family. Because of Kirby, my Dad is alive today. He warned my Dad of the fire..and I am so thankful. Because of the circumstance of my parents living arrangement because of my Mom's job and my Dad just retiring...I was so happy that they had retrieved most of the pictures and videos from the home that were taken of us growing up. It's been so rough, especially for my parents. I have prayed day after day that their grief would subside and that they would find comfort, that new memories are being made and could be made in a new home. Because my Mom is close to retiring..I can't wait to see how special their new home is going to be, whether they build or buy.
They deserve all the happiness in the world! Our family has endured much tragedy, not only with the fire, but with the wrecks we've been in and the hardships we've all faced these past two decades. It's hard to be positive some days...but I love my parents and my sister so much! My parents are the two strongest people I know and I pray for their understanding and peace in life in remembering this day.

Bookworm Breakfast

I hosted a "Bookworm Breakfast" at my house today. We had a lot of fun. The kiddos all had to bring a gently used book from their home to exchange. Zoee loves her new book and we've read it about 6 or more times today...along with every book in the living room that she owns. She LOVES LOVES LOVES books..and I am happy about that. I think she is so smart and learns a lot from them. We read a ton every day.

BeautiControl Spa Party

I hosted a BeautiControl Spa Party and like always I invite a ton of ladies and only one person showed up. Courtney and I had a great afternoon of pampering. We did facials, microderm abrasion, lip treatments, eye treatments, instant manicures, instant pedicures, and dug into the make up. I love BeautiControl. I keep thinking that this would be a great home business...you can't beat 50% commission if you are actually selling. This is two days later and my face looks great, feels wonderful, and my pores are actually no longer giant. When Mike and Zoee got home...Zoee wanted Stephanie to massage some lotion on her hands..so she did. She was so cute!

Gerber Daisy Goobers

We went to pick out Zoee's Easter basket before they were all picked over at Hobby Lobby on Saturday. It was a fun family outing we had. Here are my two Gerber Daisy Goobers. Aren't they ridiculously cute??

Support Our Troops

By wearing Red every Friday to SUPPORT OUR TROOPS. They are so selfless and give so much of themselves to protect us...it's the least we can do. My friend made Zoee this cute lil' dress so she can show her support. These are the only pics ..hopefully next Friday I can get some better ones.

Two Days of Happenings

Well, because I have not been blogging, I am having to make up for it by adding many many posts at once..ha ha! So here are two days of happenings around here. Zoee is a girl of many facial expressions as you can see. She cracks me up so much. And how is it my child knows how to hold up toy guns and then rest her lil' hands on her holster as if she is in an old Western?? Some things are just a mystery...but, no, I don't condone her playing with guns. She found these in our costume box while cleaning and Mike thought it would be funny to put them on her belt as a holster. And I love that she will still crawl up on me and lay in my lap while falling asleep. It's nice to know she needs her Momma..even though she is one independent lil' girl.

Crappy Weekend

It's literally been a "crappy" weekend. Zoee has a stomach bug and I'm so happy that she is potty trained or I would be cleaning up mess after mess. She only had the poop part of it..thank goodness she has not thrown up. Now, last night my tummy hasn't been feeling good. Not a very good weekend. I haven't felt like cleaning so our house is a wreck..but I guess I have several days this week to get everything done. Zoee is feeling better today.

Barnum & Bailey Bunco

We had our monthly Bunco party with my Dice Diva friends. Jennifer put together a circus theme this month. It was so much fun. I'm so glad that I have such great friends!

Where's the Green??

Had a great day today on this beautiful St. Patty's Day. We had a playdate and Zoee thoroughly enjoyed herself. She was grinning from ear to ear all day. So fun! Considering I'm a fourth Irish..I always love this holiday!! And my favorite color happens to be GREEN!

Spring Break in Ruidoso, New Mexico

We took our Spring Trip with my family to Ruidoso, New Mexico. We had a great time. We took the kids to ride on a pony, rode a train up by the river, and hung out in our cozy cabin. We gambled a little bit at the Inn of the Mountain Gods. I was unlucky this trip, Mike was the one winning. We took the kiddos to two different parks and they had fun. The last day we went off by ourselves and did some shopping and looked around the town. It's so beautiful there and the weather was so nice and cool..but not too cold. The deer were amazing by our cabin..came right up to us..almost ate out of our hands. We had a great time..and will have to do it again soon!
