Remember Alex Brown

I tuned into Extreme Makeover Home Edition last night to watch something truly inspirational. It is about the Brown family from Wellman, Texas. Alex Brown's story is a sad one, like most tragedy when a life is lost because a senseless act, but it's also a story of inspiration to others because her parents and sister are turning their tragedy into something really great. They are spreading the word about the dangers of texting while driving and hoping that teenagers and people alike will put down their phones and start paying attention to what's going on while driving. We pass through Wellman almost every time we go and see my inlaws. Mike and I had heard a great deal about the Brown family on the news and found out that Extreme Makeover Home Edition was building them a new home and helping them to spread the word to the rest of the United States about the dangers. The last time we were passing through, we went by to see their new house and there Alex's truck sat on top of the bed of the trailer they haul from school to school talking about the importance of texting while driving. Please watch this video and help with their cause if you feel the need to do so.
What a great family this is..and they need your help!

The Box Derby

Zoee and Mike had a lot of fun playing together tonight. Mike put Zoee into a box we had left over from our Sam's trip the other night and was pushing her around. She was having fun! But things took a turn for the worse when she brought the box into the living room and was playing in it. She was running around the living room with the blanket on her head playing peek-a-boo..when she stumbled over her feet (darn the intoeing) and fell and hit her face on the corner of this box. She had yet another long scratch on her face. If this stuff continues to happen I'm going to have to get her a full face mask for her to wear while playing..cause her pretty li'l face is going to be all scarred up. I haven't took a pic of it yet, but it's pretty red.

Scare in Store

OMG..Zoee gave us a HUGE scare tonight at Walmart. We had gone in to get a few items we needed. Well, for some reason Zoee gets real antsy when we get into the checkout line. She starts squirming around..is usually ready to get the heck out of the store as fast as she can. And by that time..so are we!
This night, we got into line. Zoee, of course, was having one of her freak out moments in the checkout line. I was in front of the basket putting our items up onto the conveyor..and Mike was standing closest to her behind the basket. He started putting things up onto the conveyor, also trying to be his helpful self..that's just his nature. Zoee starts freakin..I told him just watch her..I can handle it. As soon as turned around..and I mean everything happened in an instant, Zoee leaned over to grab some of those gift cards that are stacked up and leaned too far and was falling out of the basket..head first to the ground. Thank God, Mike was standing close enough to grab her ankle and caught her from falling completely down. He still doesn't know how he had the strength to grab her 30 lb. body by her ankle and pull her up because he's been having some problems with that hand. I guess on the way up or down she had scratched her face on something..cart? incap? cards? She now had scratches on her forehead (the skin was not broken..but it was red and kind of welped up) and she had a bloody scratch on her nose. My heart sank and she was screaming..I don't know if she was screaming because she was scared or because she was hurt from the scratches. But we were totally mortified and if she had fallen..I'm sure she would of broke something and we would have had a trip to the E.R. So from now on..no matter if she throws a fit or not..she is wearing her seatbelt. We are going to try to prevent that from happening EVER EVER again. Yet another lesson learned. Why is it we always have to learn the hard way??
Here's the pic I took when we got home and she settled down.. POOR BABY!

The EXPLOSION!

Zoee, Traci, Koleton, and I met a few of the girls from our Mommies group at Burger King for a playdate on Friday in Midland. We were having a good time until right before we were about to leave Zoee came over to me and said, "PooPoo" and pointed to her buttox. She has been saying this lately..but usually after the fact she already does it in her pull-up. Well, because pull-ups are NOT like diapers and mostly hold everything in, I lifted her pull-up from her behind and low and behold..we had quite the "POOPY" situation on our hands. Yes, literally on my hand..ha ha! Because Burger King does not have a changing table in their restaurant (yes, weird to me) I had to run Zoee out to the car..holding her as gracefully as I could without putting her up against me..cause I didn't know the extent of the damage. When I pulled up her shirt..it was all up her back onto her shirt and all over the back of her pants. Of course, this would be the day I was 35 miles from home without an extra set of clothes for her to wear and we still had other business to tend to in Midland. So..I changed her into a new pull-up, and put her naked into her carseat. We headed over to Toys R Us (was going there anyway) and the only thing I had to put on her was her long cute li'l brown jacket. Thank goodness it was a little chilly out..or we would of looked completely ridiculous. I put it on her..strapped her in her stroller (hoping it looked less noticeable) and went and got her some new clothes to change into. Of course, they have all of their spring outfits out for sale now..so we had to end up getting one of those..but it sure is cute. And to make it worse, Zoee kept doing spread eagle with her legs..showing off that she only had her jacket on, but I don't think anybody noticed but me or maybe it was my paranoia that everybody was looking..ha ha! Traci and I were cracking up. Definitely a lesson learned to make sure I have an extra set no matter what..especially when we are leaving town.
Traci snapped a shot of Zoee right before we were heading into the store (at least she knows how to accessorize..ha ha) She had put on her necklace. And then the other is of her explaining to Mike what happened when he got home from work ..and her in new cute li'l outfit.

This is what I've had on the brain this week. Zoee's 2nd birthday is coming up pretty soon. It will be here in about give weeks. Because I have a full calendar of events going on in February..it's going to fly, I'm sure. It always does when you are having fun! So I've been getting things together for her party. It's going to be so adorable and we are going to have a great time. We can't wait. Can't believe my baby is going to be "2" though! Where does the time go??

It's Finally Here!

I had posted a while back..I think around first part of December that I was chosen in a giveaway to receive a Olivia Stocking Stuffer gift. So glad they picked me, because it's too cute! We finally received it in the mail. Zoee loves it even though it pertains to Christmas..cause she loves Christmas and she loves Olivia. She's adopted Olivia dressed up as a cow into her collection of "babies" and now carries her around all day, as well. I love it when you get cool stuff for free..it's such great karma!

We went to the UTPB Park the other day and had so much fun on their playground. We even decided this would be the perfect destination for Zoee's Birthday Party.

Fun Day Sunday

We've just been hanging out this Sunday and been lazy. Zoee is quite the character so I snapped a few pics of her. She was gobbling up grapes with her Daddy and then she was trying to put them into the gas tank of her Buggy. Maybe she's on to something, we thought! LOL We're having fun!

Zoee & Ethan-Christmas 2010

Tyler took some pictures of Zoee and Ethan when we were over there at Christmas. They are so adorable and I can see a lot of facical features that somewhat look the same in both of them. They are cousins, of course, and are going to have so much fun growing up together. Grammy gave them both a recordable book (in this pic) from Hallmark which was entitled "Twas the Night Before Christmas". She recorded her voice in it ..so sweet!

So Precious

She is growing up so fast...no longer a baby..but will forever MY BABY! She had fallen asleep on the couch tonight after getting out of the bathtub. She hasn't felt too good because she is teething. I love her so much and couldn't ask for a more precious daughter than her.

Escape Artist during Mall Playdate

I organized a mall playdate for the kiddos to come and play in the play areas at our Music City Mall. We had a lot of fun except for the fact that Zoee was such an escape artist. They have two areas..we started out at one and before I knew it she had escaped and was running down the mall pointing at something that was on the ceiling. I noticed she was saying, "Bird" and pointing at it as it flew away. Then we decided to move down to the other end of the mall where they have this play area that is padded for climbling including a big slide. All the kiddos really liked it and once again Zoee escaped from there, too. She scared the crap out of me cause one minute she was there and the next she was gone. Once she realized I was chasing her she thought it was a game and turned around and smiled real big and took off running once again toward the big carousel they have in the middle of the mall. I finally wrangled her up and blockaded her in to the play area. It was great fun, but very tiring for me having to chase her. This is why there is only three pics..that aren't so good. HA HA!

We had belated Christmas with my in-laws on Sunday since we didn't get to see them for Christmas. Zoee received a Pink Tot Rod and Mike and I got a Kitchenaid Mixer (something I've been wanting for years now). We had an interesting visit (one in which my feelings were hurt about) but what can you do..they are always going to be family. Zoee loves eating her Abuelita's burritos and she was so mesmerized by her Abuelito. She kept playing with him..trying on his hat and such. She had a good time!

Choosing the Chapstick

Zoee is addicted to Chapstick. If she even sees a tube of it anywhere and she doesn't get it in her hands she throws the biggest fit. She's such a girly girl already. What is a Mom to do???? HA HA

Had a great day today at Progressive Park and Sherwood Park. Spent time as a family and let Zoee run wild! She's not scared of any of the big slides. I don't know whether to be worried or glad..ha ha. We had a blast!

No Love for Shots

I'm wondering if this is what Zoee pictures as we are walking into her pediatrician's office?? I had to take Zoee in to see the doctor the other day for the rash around her mouth. Long story--short...she was fine in the waiting room..but as we were headed off of the scale walking to the exam room she starting flippin' out. She has done this the past three times now that we've been to see her doctor. But, of course, the past three times we've seen her doctor, she's had to endure pain because of her vaccinations. Which always means a variety of shots. This particular visit was awful because she threw the biggest fit ever..I mean, throwing herself on the floor awful. It's like she had this picture above in her head while waiting for the doctor to come in. She always calms down while the doctor is in there, somewhat. I saw, somewhat, because she at least stops heaving herself onto the floor. She totally refuses to sit on the exam table (adorned with that wonderful paper covering it). She used to tear the crap out of the paper as a baby (just playing with it and wadding it up and what not) and I'd always have to pull more out for her to be placed on. So I'm having to hold her the whole time while she screams, cries, or yells out Momma, NO! After the doctor leaves, it's like she knows that the mean ole' nurse is going to come into the room and put her in pain. This time she had to get her last vaccination and the flu vaccination. She always stops crying immediately after and calms down..but it's WWIII dealing with her leading up to the shots. She gave us another ointment for her mouth (which has been working really great) so hopefully it will be cleared up soon. It's been looking awful as you can see in her previous pictures. She doesn't have to see the doctor again for a year (unless she's sick) so hopefully she won't freak out anymore and will forget about the dreaded pain she's been put through. Here's hoping!! HA HA!
